Three-Phase Motor Controllers

             

 

       Three-phase motor controllers with features including soft start, soft stop, energy saving, phase loss protection, low and high voltage protection, over current protection, remote motor start-stop control and external bypass.  The patent for this design is approved or under pending in many countries.  Our soft start and soft stop have very good adjustability.  Our soft start can have the current rump up to a constant plateau and maintain at the plateau during the startup.

     Soft Start and Soft Stop

A motor started with soft start can lower inrush current during the startup to avoid:

Sudden voltage drop on the power network that might effect normal operation of facilities powered by electricity such as blinking of lightings or interference on electronic facilities and machines powered by electricity.

Demand charge due to large inrush current during the startup.

Impact on the machines due to rapid startup of the motor.

Inertial impact on the load due to rapid startup of the motor such as transported bottles on the conveyer.

Damage on the valve due to large imbalance of the pressure on both sides of the valve created by rapid startup of the motor.

 

A motor stopped with soft stop can avoid:

Impact on the machines run by the motor.

Inertial impact on the load due to sudden stop of the motor such as transported bottles on the conveyer.

Water hammer due to quick stop of the water pump.  Water hammer can create large noise and damage the water pipe.

Damage on the valve due to large imbalance of the pressure on both sides of the valve created by rapid stop of the motor.

 

Ways to start a motor:

Start with full voltage

  *The inrush current is about 3~9 times of  the rated current.

Simple soft starter

  *Current is not constant.

  *The current at pick is still too high

  *It can be considered as an improved Y-△ starter

 

Good soft starter

  *Starting current has a limited current plateau.

  *The current does not reach the plateau gradually.

  *The adjustability is not good enough.

Best soft starter –DIGITEK

  *Starting current has a limited current plateau.

  *The current reaches the plateau gradually.

  *Has the best adjustability.

 

     Energy Saving

ENERGY CONSUMPTION CHARACTERISTICS OF A MOTOR

At partial load a motor consumes more energy than needed.

At lower load the wasted energy in percentage is larger.

AUTOMATIC BYPASS

 

     Automatic External Bypass

When there is no room for energy saving and DIGITEK-IIIGS is only used for soft start and soft stop, one may install an external bypass system so that after completion of soft start the system can automatically switch to external bypass connection, while DIGITEK-IIIGS still provides phase loss protection, over current protection, and over voltage protection.  At external bypass current to the motor is no longer going through DIGITE-IIIGS and SCRs are not in operation.  As a result the life span of SCRs will be extensively prolonged.  To stop the motor the system can automatically switch back to DIGITEK-IIIGS again and stops the motor with soft stop.

 

    Jogging

DIGITEK-IIIET is the only fixed frequency motor controller with jogging operation feature.  The jogging is operated under remote control mode and can be operated with reduced voltage.  The reduced voltage for jogging can be adjusted according the need.  One of the best examples of the jogging operation is on the wire drawing machine that requires soft start and jogging.
